POSTED BY BILL M, PLANO, TEXAS (MARCH 18, 2020)

I was just tested for COVID-19. Two reasons for being tested:

(1) my flu-like symptoms (respiratory) were progressing and

(2) I was at the Alaska Airlines ticket counter at San Francisco International Airport on March 9, the day before one of their customer service agents — at the same ticket counter — went home sick and was later (March 14th) confirmed to have COVID.

I called my GP, answered some pre-screening questions, hung up the phone and met Dr. Adam Kaplan in the Medical Building parking lot. With a nurse assisting, he swabbed separately for the flu, strep and COVID-19.

The results won’t be known for three days. Until then I am QUARANTINED from the rest of the Plano, Texas and my wife. We are not to be in the same room at the same time. Our six-year-old granddaughter, who lives with us, will stay with the “other grandmother”.

I was told that someone from the Plano Health Department might be stopping by. I am now a statistic.

UPDATE

Now I know why my doctor responded so quickly this morning. Collin County, where I live, reported the first death related to coronavirus. A 64-year-old Plano man who died at a hospital Tuesday from an underlying medical condition, had been infected with COVID-19.
